Favorite At-Home Workout Equipment

Let me tell you a thing. AT-HOME-WORKOUTS ARE MY FAVORITE WORKOUTS!

I learned early on that I would need a variety of workout routines at my disposal. Gym workouts, outdoor workouts, and workouts that included friends and family - all important. But, truly, my at home-workouts are what have kept me committed to a healthy lifestyle.

Plus, you can’t beat the commute to the living room!

Currently, I’m working on creating a dedicated space in my home for all my equipment. I can’t wait to show you how it turns out! In the meantime…

Here are my MUST HAVES for my home gym:

Weights: Totally a given. Gotta have’em. It you are a beginner, I’d suggest starting with a set of 2, 3, 4 and 5 lb dumbbells. This is an investment into your healthy, and gives you room to grow. Also, consider adding a round, Olympic weight (like you might see added to the end of a barbell) to your collection. A 10-20 lb circular weight is great to use during weighted bridges (and you’ll find a lot of those in my workouts!).

Large Yoga Mat: Yoga mats are amazing. And, you’ll use it every workout. If you have pain in your knees (when kneeling) or your feet (when standing) layering two mats is helpful.

Fitness Ball: These are great for ab and booty work, and just so much fun! They are an inexpensive addition to any home gym.

Yoga Blocks: So inexpensive, you can add 2. They are perfect for a helping hand or stability when learning a new move.

Resistance Bands: Affectionately known as “Booty Bands” they are great for working just that - your booty (as well as other things)! You can find starter kits that include 3 - 5 different “strengths” and many online workout tutorials for them.

Interval Timer App: If you want to change your activity throughout the course of a session at marked times, download an interval timer. They can be customized, and are great for walk/run sessions.

Foam Roller: You’ll be so happy to have one for stretching after your workout. If you are new to this, take your time and move slowly.

Add a few towels, a water bottle, and your favorite music and you’ll have a space, as well as the equipment, you LOVE working out with!

Living Better,

Shanna
