Protein Coffee

I LOVE THE IDEA OF COFFEE.

I love the routine of starting the day with coffee. I love the warmth on my hands of a steaming cup of coffee on cold days, and the fun of an iced coffee in the summer. I love allllllllll the things you can add to coffee, creams and butters and syrups.

I love meeting friends for coffee. I love all the at home gadgets to elevate the coffee drinking experience.

You can drink it all day long, or after dinner with dessert. It’s universal. Almost everyone loves coffee, and people are always happy to discuss their obsession with it.

The smell is Ah-Ma-Zing.

The taste variations, alluring.

PEOPLE HAVE STRONG OPINIONS ABOUT COFFEE.

Yet.

Yet, I confess, I do not drink it every day, or every week for that matter.

I start my day with a different drink, water.

I have my reasons for this, but I do enjoy coffee from time to time.

When I make it at home, I always, ALWAYS use it with a protein powder. I admit this isn’t the same as getting a Gingerbread Latte in a Christmas cup from Sbuxs, but it does help me stay on track with my nutrition. You should also be aware that Cookies and Cream Protein Powder is a real thing, and begs to be added to coffee (Google it).

There are special considerations when adding Protein Powder to hot beverages, however. Please take careful note below or you’ll end up with a cup of hot sludge. And, nobody wants that. You’ve been warned.

Protein Coffee (Hot)

Ingredients:

1 cup, hot black coffee

1 serving protein powder (I like vanilla, or cookies and cream flavor OBVIOUSLY)

Water

Put 1 serving of protein powder in a bowl or mug. Add COLD water (important) a few teaspoons at a time. Mix well using a small whisk or spoon. This step is important. You don’t want ANY lumps in your protein powder. If needed, add more water a tsp at a time until it’s completely smooth.

Once the protein powder is completely (and I mean COMPLETELY) emulsified, you can add it to the hot coffee. Whisk and enjoy.

Blessings!

Shanna
