The gym on my college campus isn’t closed, but it might as well be 10,000 miles away from my apartment when my long day is over, and I wanna hit a workout.

As a senior in college, one might think my load is light, but alas, that is not the case.

The idea of walking to the gym after class makes tears come to my eyes, so lately I have been doing workouts at home, in my small, dorm apartment.

I am a big yoga fan, and usually a 30 minute, intermediate yoga class with an online instructor sets me up well. It oxygenates my blood and helps clear my mind. Yoga also reduces my stress and produces "calming" chemicals in the brain.

My favorite online yoga teacher currently is Yoga With Kassandra, a yoga instructor who generously puts out free content on YouTube. I have been doing yoga for a few years now, and I really don't like a lot of talking during my practice. She has a whole playlist of "minimal cues" classes, where she will call out the yoga pose and how many breaths you are in it for, but that is about it. This type of workout is best for people who know enough about yoga poses and transitions to not hurt themselves during practice.

If you want something a little easier, go with Yoga With Adrienne. She is really smart, and a great beginner yoga instructor. She breaks down the poses and explains their benefits. She also has a lot of free content on Youtube that targets specific body parts. My favorite part of her channel are videos on "Yoga For Grief," and other very specific topics. Adrienne is very good at targeting things that everyone needs to address.

Recently, I have wanted to do something a little more than yoga. I bought workout bands from my favorite celebrity Fitness Trainer, Kira Stokes. A collection of 3 of her bands is around $20, and can be found by clicking here. People who use resistance bands are another level of badass in my head. When I use them I feel like an idiot, I mean a complete novice, and since I am such, give myself some mercy. The bands have been so helpful and easy to use during my workouts that I am shocked I had not bought them before. There are also TONS of posts and pins online using bands, so definitely google it.

Can’t make it to the gym? Just don’t want too? Not to worry. We’ve all been there…especially during this Pandemic! With just a little online research, your workouts can still be great. Would love to hear what your favorite home-workouts are as well!
